Plant occupations
Plant occupations require a good understanding of Health and Safety as these careers involve using a lot of heavy machinery, both on site and in mechanical workshops.

Communication skills are also important, as plant operators will need to stay in constant contact with those around them.

Much of the equipment that plant operators use can be very complicated, but workers in these roles will be taught all they need to know on the job and trained how to use all machinery and specialist tools.

The Job

This is a sales job that involves meeting with construction companies to negotiate the hire or sale of plant equipment.

The People

You'll be working with potential clients, so good communication skills are important for this job. You'll also need to have excellent knowledge of plant machinery, so that you can recommend which would suit a client properly. Finally, you'll need good negotiation skills so you can close the deal.

Entry Requirements

There are no specific academic requirements needed to train as a plant-sales person, although a good knowledge of the plant machinery is necessary. It is also recommended that applicants for this position have trained as plant operators previously.

This training will ensure you will have learned the details behind the types of plant machinery suited to each job, and the way to deal with plant-hire controllers. Employers may test organisational and interpersonal skills, as these will be important in dealing with potential clients.

The Benefits
