SkillsDirect is the quick and easy way to get qualified and get a card. It pulls together everything you need to qualify into a simple three-step process - helping you get your card with minimum fuss.

Step 1

You''ll need to pass a Health and Safety Test and get an appropriate S/NVQ qualification and certificate before you''re issued with your card.

Step 2 (Scottish/National Vocational Qualification (S/NVQ))

This stage is for those candidates who need to achieve an S/NVQ to obtain their card. Many candidates may be able to skip this stage by qualifying through a CSCS temporary route. This will be confirmed at the test centre under step 1.

We’ll also discuss the best way for you to get qualified – either through On-Site Assessment and Training (OSAT), or the Experienced Worker Practical Assessment (EWPA).

Your S/NVQ assessor will support you through the qualification process. They’ll arrange an appointment with you within three weeks of passing your Health and Safety Test. You’ll also be issued with a temporary experienced worker card, so you can work on site until you achieve your S/NVQ.

Step 3

Once you''ve completed your Health and Safety Test and met the qualification requirements, you''ll be issued with your card within 7 working days.
