People interested in pursuing a career in the demolition industry, who are motivated to work hard, sometimes away from home, to become valuable members of the workforce.
The Demolition Plant Operative course has been designed in close consultation with the demolition industry and is offered as part of the apprenticeship programme. It sets out to offer demolition plant operatives an appreciation of all the aspects of demolition.
Course content
Following an induction period, trainees attend the residential course at the National Construction College. The course content will include:

Entry requirements
All candidates will be required to complete a Skills Learning exercise, and some will need to attend the college for further tests.

- All knowledge and understanding assessments will be carried out during attendance at the college. Arrangements will be made to assess apprentices in the workplace during on-site periods. Guidance in portfolio collation and assessments for an NVQ Level 2 qualification will be discussed with the employer and apprentice.

- Intermediate Certificate (ICT) in Specialised Plant and Machinery Operations
- Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) Red Trained Operator’s Card
*The college assessment team will track apprentices on-site for the first category of plant as selected by the employer for conversion to NVQ and the full CPCS Competency Card. This apprenticeship is available through the following campus:
NNC East (Bircham Newton)
Year 1: 18 weeks (NCC East)
Year 2: The remaining part of the programme is spent on-site with the apprentice’s employer to gain work experience.
